What to pack is always one of the first questions that you will ask yourself ahead of a holiday abroad.
It can often be difficult to work out exactly what is required as there are a number of factors that you need to consider:
- How hot is it during the day?
- How much does the temperature drop in an evening?
- What are the humidity levels like? Certain materials work better with high humidity
- Do you require long sleeves to avoid mosquito bites?
- How smart is your hotel - are trousers for dining required?
- Take into account local customs, for example ladies might need to cover up more?
If in doubt, our advice is to pack layers. Don’t rely on the heavy sweater that you’ve had for years to keep you warm. Take 2 light sweaters instead. That way you can layer up or down depending on how you feel. Plenty of short sleeved shirts are also reccomended. Long sleeve shirts rolled up to the elbows can look messy.
Footwear is often a difficult choice to make as shoes can be heavy and with nearly every airline imposing strict weight regulations, you need to pack light wherever possible.
Both ladies and gents can often wear flipflops or smart sandals in an evening which certainly helps keeping your feet cool. Linen trousers are also a good option as they are light and cool.
Make sure you take a hat, one that gives you all-round protection from the sun.
